NBC's "The Sing-Off"

Congratulations MAXX Factor!

Dec. 17, 2009 - The judges chose five groups to continue on the quest for the "The Sing-Off" title. The remaining groups were charged with performing songs selected by the judges and popular medley’s from major artists over the last few decades.

As Sweet Adelines International members proudly watched, MAXX Factor took center stage in front of a national audience of 6.9 million viewers. The Baltimore quartet entertained America with a rousing Beach Boys medley. The songs worked well with their voices. Ben loved their sound and said that they didn't try to imitate the original songs - they did their own thing. He also noted that, if you closed your eyes, you wouldn't have guessed that it was four women on stage - he said they had the strength of ten men. Nicole applauded the last all-female group in the competition. She thought they brought good vibrations and that they had strong, in sync harmonies. Shawn commended them for taking on the Beach Boys. He said that it took them a while to get started, but eventually they got it and he loved it.

Then it was time for a group to be cut. The Beelzebubs and Voices of Lee immediately found out that they were safe. Nota made it through to the next round, too. The Socals were the last to find out that they were safe, which meant the ladies of MAXX Factor were cut. "It's just an honor to be on stage with groups of this caliber," said the quartet. They sang their swan song, "I'm Leavin' on a Jet Plane" by Peter Paul and Mary as they exited the stage.

MAXX Factor sang their hearts out for three nights of heated competitions. Many fans commented that they were technically the best group in "The Sing-Off." Nicole said that they really shined as singing queens. She was impressed with the fact that they were housewives and moms that came out on stage and blew the audience away with their voices. Ben commented that the barbershop sound was a total asset and that he was glad that they didn't abandon it. He called the group great and unique. Shawn enjoyed hearing the smooth, tight, four-part harmony that MAXX Factor delivered each night. He too complimented the barbershop style, saying that when he heard it, he thought, wow, that's dope. In a final comment, Shawn told the quartet that he was such a fan of barbershop harmony.

Thank you MAXX Factor for positively showcasing Sweet Adelines International to millions of music enthusiasts.
