The election of two members on the International Board of Directors has concluded with Patty Cobb Baker, Harborlites Chapter, Region #21, and Kathy Carmody, Velvet Hills Chapter, Region #8 being elected to three-year terms that begin on May 1, 2009. In addition, the International Board appointed two members to serve one-year terms beginning on the same date. The appointees are Carole Kirkpatrick, Pacific Sound Chapter, Region #13, and Harriette Walters, Greater Nassau Chapter, Region #15.

The International election concluded at 3 p.m. (Central Standard Time) Wednesday, Dec. 3. International President Peggy Gram was pleased that participation in the election stood at 81.76 percent, slightly lower than the participation recorded in the 2007 election, but significantly better than the 2006 election.

Following the election, the Executive Committee met by teleconference to choose four members whose name would appear on the slate for appointment. By policy, the International Board of Directors appoints two members annually to serve one-year terms.

Congratulations to four regions that achieved 100 percent in the International election. They are: Rocky Mountain #8, Great Gulf Coast, #10, North Pacific #13, and Greater New York, #15.

In 2009, chartered chapters and members of the at-large chapters will elect four members to serve three-year terms on the Board beginning May 1, 2010. Two members will be appointed at the conclusion of the election.
