An Introductory Conversation with a Journalist

First, locate the name and phone number of the individual journalist who is most likely to be interested in your chorus story. Read the publication or listen/watch the station for a few weeks and learn about the organization before you place the phone call.

Many journalists have voice mail to screen their calls, so prepare yourself to tell your story succinctly if you must talk to a machine.

Hello, this is Glynna Bass.

I'm representing the Goldcoast Show Chorus of Sweet Adelines International.

I would like to invite you to our "Harmony with a Heart Day" press day on Wednesday, January 31, at (location).

Every year our members present to the Women's Crisis Center a large collection of toiletries we have collected throughout the year.

The chorus also will donate a percentage of our profits from the annual Singing Valentines fund-raiser to the Crisis Center. We will have a quartet on hand to perform an early Singing Valentine.

Each Singing Valentine is $35 and will be delivered by one of our quartets on February 13-14. To request a Singing Valentine, call 1-800-307-SING.
