Sweet Adelines International announces that the annual convention and competition will be relocated to Detroit, Michigan, October 4-8, 2005.

"The Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with our hospitality community, is grateful to be able to offer assistance to your organization and membership by hosting your Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition and honoring your 60th Anniversary," stated Larry Alexander, President and CEO. "While our hearts are in the south with the victims of this terrible tragedy, our staff and community are committed to providing Sweet Adelines with a remarkable and memorable experience in Detroit, a city world renowned for our musical heritage," Alexander continued.

Sweet Adelines International is deeply saddened by the tragic events caused by Hurricane Katrina. Our concern is with the victims and their families. We honor them by joining hands, hearts and voices in harmony.

International Headquarters has received a number of heartfelt messages from members. Usually, our tax exempt status limits fund-raising efforts on behalf of other organizations. However, because of this unprecedented disaster, the Internal Revenue Service is allowing 501(c)(3) organizations, such as ours, to conduct fund-raising efforts not previously allowed. It is important that these unusual activities be undertaken only in regard to this special relief effort. These activities are a deviation from the activities of which the IRS is aware and should be undertaken with great caution. Click here to find ways that you can help.

Below is information that will assist you in adjusting your plans.
