Rising
Star Quartet Contest
Trinity University
San Antonio, Texas
An
Extraordinary Experience
The
anticipation, excitement and discipline of preparing for an adjudicated
barbershop contest in an environment of learning and fun is available
to women singers age 25 and younger.
The purpose of the Rising Star Quartet Contest is to encourage young
women to develop mastery in their singing technique, and experience
the pleasure of singing four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop
style.
The contest is just one attraction of the exciting three-day International
Education Symposium produced by Sweet Adelines International, one
of the world's most experienced vocal music education organizations.
IES includes curriculum especially suited to young women singers
and their vocal music instructors.
The Young Singers Foundation awards cash prizes of $2,000, $1,000,
and $500 for the first, second, and third place winners of the Rising
Star Quartet Contest. This contest is scheduled for Friday, July
18, 2008 at 7:30 p.m., on the campus of Trinity University, San
Antonio, Texas.
Winners of the Rising Star Quartet Contest will also be invited
to perform at the Sweet Adelines International Convention.
