Adelines International is
Forming a New Centerville
Chorus
Sweet
Adelines International,
a barbershop harmony organization
for
women,
is forming a chorus in Centerville.
Women of all ages who enjoy
singing
are invited to attend the
organizational meeting on
Tuesday, January
20, 200_, in the Centerville
Community Center auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The
Twill
Notes, a demonstration barbershop
quartet from Pemberton,
will
provide
free entertainment.
"Musical
knowledge isn't necessary
to sing with this chorus,"
says
organizer
Mary Atkins. "Any woman
of average singing ability,
with or
without vocal training,
will find a part that fits
her voice range."
The
chorus in Centerville plans
to begin regular rehearsals
in the near
future.
The chorus will provide
a community service, eventually
offering its
talent
for entertainment at civic
events and charitable functions,
in addition to
promoting
harmony and friendship among
women.
Celebrating
more than 55 years of barbershop
harmony, Sweet Adelines
International has a membership
of 28,000 women around the world. The
organization
is dedicated to educating
its members in the art of
singing four-
part
harmony, barbershop style,
and has as its motto "Harmonize
the
World."
