        CONVENTION AND COMPETITION
        October 19-23, 2010
        Seattle, Washington

Seattle has been known as the “Queen City,” “Jet City,” “The Gateway to Alaska,” and most recently, “Emerald City.” But there is one thing for certain, October 19-23, 2010, Seattle will become “Harmony City!”

A medley of picturesque views, snowcapped mountains, sparkling blue waters and a buzzing city life, Seattle offers the perfect setting for Sweet Adelines International’s 64th Annual Convention and Competition.

More than 70 quartets and 43 choruses will perk up their barbershop chords and heat up the stage in five days of flavorful and rich competition! The northwest’s coffee capital is no stranger to great music and blended sounds — Seattle has become a Mecca for performing arts and music. The city hosts such musical delights as the century-old Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Opera and became the birthplace of grunge music in the 90s.

Friends, old and new, will greet you in Seattle as you take in the sights and sounds of barbershop's best, watch dazzling performances, visit Harmony Bazaar, tour the area's most famous and entertaining landmarks and harmonize to your heart's content. Five days of amazing competitions, including the Harmony Classic and Rising Star Contest, educational events and the Coronet Club Show await you.

        SHUTTLE BUSES

Shuttle buses will be running from each Sweet Adelines International hotel to Key Arena one hour prior to each competition. The buses will park at the curb at the main entrance to Key Arena, with a short walk across the plaza to the entrance to the arena. The Sweet Adelines ticket office is outside Key Arena, to the right of where the buses are loading and unloading.

When you book your hotel room through the Sweet Adelines International housing bureau (Experient), you are eligible to ride the shuttle at no cost. If you do not book a room through the Sweet Adelines International housing bureau, even if you are staying at one of our hotels, you must purchase a shuttle pass for $75. The passes are available for purchase online or at the ticket office. Shuttle bussing is based on hotel room pick up, not registration, and the number of buses running is determined by the number of people staying in our room block at our hotels.

Please remember that due to insurance liabilities, the driver of the bus cannot load or unload your wheelchair or scooter into the storage compartment under the bus. You will need to have a companion take care of this for you.

For those who need to ride a shuttle with a wheelchair lift, they are reserved on a case-by-case basis onsite. The transportation company will have a cell phone number that you can call while in Seattle to schedule your pick-up time.
