Signature
Sound was formed
by singers who had
quartet experience
but had never tasted
the success of contest
quarteting. The
quartet registered
on September 25,
1990, with the only
name at least one
of them did not
hate.
Their
first Regional contest
was in April 1991,
where they got their
very first medal
-third place. The
following spring
Signature Sound
placed second and
scored high enough
to be given a wild
card slot in the
International contest
in Baltimore, Maryland.
The
quartet won their
first regional competition
in 1994, and were
off to Reno, Nevada
for International.
Their goal was to
make the top twenty,
but they overshot
that and ended up
placing ninth. For
the next three years,
the quartet continued
to place in the
top ten.
In
Nashville, Tennessee,
in 1998, their quartet
performance went
like magic and they
came in second place
and were on their
way to the "big
top."
In
September 1999 in
Atlanta, Georgia,
Signature Sound
achieved their goal
and were crowned
the "2000 International
Quartet Champion."
