Zing!
#7 & #25, Olathe, Kan.
Michelle Marie Hunget, Susan Ives, Mary Rhea, Melynnie Williams
Sweet
Adelines International crowned Zing! quartet the new Queens of Harmony at the
63rd annual Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition held on Friday,
Oct. 23, 2009, in Nashville, Tenn. The judges and audience were wowed when Zing!
gave a nearly immaculate performance, including breathtaking barbershop harmony
and witty sidebars throughout the entertainment package.
Zing!
members are Michelle Hunget, Susan Ives, Mary Rhea, and Melynnie Williams, all
from separate parts of Oklahoma and Kansas. Mary is the newest member of the quartet,
who replaced the former baritone this past January. Zing! has been performing
for eight years and has shared the International stage each of those years. They
have placed in the top 10 three times at International competition and were blown
away when they were crowned first place quartet champions this year.
Before
Zing! was formed three members of the quartet already performed at the international
level with other quartets. Susan is the only member of Zing! that has formerly
been crowned as a past international quartet champion when the quartet she sang
in at the time, Classic Edition, took the title in 1998.
First
place did not come without hours of practice, coaching and lots of fun in between.
Zing! quartet sings and performs at various events
throughout the year, including regional events and chapter shows that span the
country.
